B.Sc. Nursing is 4 year undergraduate programme deals in training nursing aspirants and moulds them into competent nursing professionals. It includes various subjects that enable student to acquire knowledge about human body and perform necessary interventions on patient to achieve optimum level of functioning. As per curriculum every pupil is exposed to clinical training to attain proficient skills to handle patients and aiding them in gaining health. In Punjab, Nursing colleges must be recognised by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Punjab Nurses Registration Council (PNRC) & Indian Nursing Council (INC). University has laid down some co-curricular hours in every year that emphasizes participation of students in sports, cultural, literary events for their holistic growth. Various projects are assigned to every class throughout the year to inculcate skills like leadership, teamwork, companionship and many more. Evidence based practice is prime focus these days, hence students are engaged in different research projects for providing better quality care to patients. Students have to accomplish clinical, theoretical hours and have to pass all university examinations as per curriculum in order to complete this course and become competent professionals. The programme is designed in such a manner that it shapes young mind and body into skilful, knowledgeable and proficient health care professionals. In 1st year students study basic subjects like Anatomy & physiology, Nursing Foundations, Nutrition & Biochemistry, Microbiology, Psychology, English and Computers. 2nd year of this programme deals with specialized subjects like Medical surgical Nursing-I, Sociology, Pharmacology Pathology & Genetics, Community Health Nursing and Communication Education & Technology ; enabling students to acquire skills to handle patient in all aspects. Further, 3rd year includes five speciality subjects: Medical-Surgical II, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Midwifery & Obstetrical Nursing and Nursing Research & Statistics. 4th year has obstetrics and Gynaecology, Nursing management and administration, Nursing Research & Statistics and Community Health Nursing plus internship of six months. Overall this course is complete package for Nursing aspirants.
